In Person Observation with Office Hours host, Prof. Michael Alvarez, Caltech

An important problem for election scientists is studying the in-person voting experience. A lot can be learned from quantitative data. But a lot can also be learned from qualitative observation of polling places and voting centers. Here Office Hours host Prof. Alvarez outlines the general approach he has developed over the past two decades for polling place and voting center qualitative observation. This is the general approach that he is implementing right now, as part of the 2024 Caltech Protecting the Election project.
